
A Scarborough-based police officer, convicted of drink driving in May this year was due to appear at an accelerated misconduct hearing earlier today (4th July, 2023).
On 22nd January 2023, Police Constable Peter Beard, whilst off duty, drove his pown motor vehicle whilst over the prescribed limit (OPL). Specifically, the evidential blood sample recorded 176 milligrams of alcohol in 100 millilitres of blood (the legal limit being 80 milligrams).
On 11th May 2023, PC Beard pleaded guilty to the offence at Teesside Magistrates court and convicted. He was, subsequently, sentenced to a 12-month disqualification from driving, a fine of £120, costs of £85 and a victim surcharge of £48.
The hearing, chaired by Chief Constable Lisa Winward and scheduled to take place at Force HQ in Northallerton, will hear that PC Beard’s conduct breached Professional Standards.
