In response to press enquiries made to the Admin Team at Greater Manchester Magistrates’ Court last week, a spokesperson has confirmed that the next instalment in one of their longest running cases will be heard in Manchester and Salford Magistrates Court on 2nd February, 2024.
There has been eleven previous hearings of harassment allegations against Raja Miah, 50, unemployed and of Stamford Street, Mossley.
He was arrested in a dawn raid on his home by Greater Manchester Police officers on 21st July, 2021 and pleaded not guilty at a hearing in Tameside Magistrates’ Court on 3rd February, 2022.
At that same hearing, the complainant, a 40 year old lawyer from the Salford area, was granted anonymity.
There have also been case management appearances at court centres in Wigan and Bolton.
In a running commentary on the case, which has extended from the day of his arrest up to the present time (read more here), the defendant has asserted that a date for a two day trial has been listed for 2nd and 3rd May, 2024. The court made no mention of that in its statement.
Their spokesperson did, however, confirm that the court issued no Orders or Directions following a full day hearing in Bolton Magistrates’ Court last week.
