A former Cleveland Police special constable, Matthew White, is set to face a misconduct hearing accused of “illegally searching” two properties later today (7th February, 2024).

He is alleged, in a notice on the force website, to have breached the Standards of Professional Behaviour in respect of two counts of Discreditable Conduct. According to the charge, ex-SC White searched two private addresses despite being initially refused entry.

It reads: “The above breaches relate to the former special constable attending two private addresses whilst off duty in relation to a missing laptop belonging to a family member. When initially refused entry into the addresses placed himself on duty and conducted an illegal search.”

The public hearing opens at 10am and will be held in Stockton.

The force has not named the Legally Qualified Chair or the other two Panel members who will hear the allegations and make a finding.
