An Oldham man faces a Crown Court trial early in the New Year over allegations of non-recent child sexual offences.
Between the years 2000 and 2007, Mumtaz Khan, 76, is alleged to have committed a total of thirteen offences against three victims, at the material time aged as young as 13 years old.
Following authorisation by the Crown Prosecution Service, the suspect was charged in February 2025 by detectives from GMP Oldham’s Complex Safeguarding Unit, dedicated to protecting young and vulnerable people in the Borough.
Mr Khan has since appeared, successively, at Manchester Magistrates’ Court and Manchester Minshull Street Crown Court, where he was given conditional court bail ahead of a trial listed to open on 5th January 2026.
The indictment lists eight counts of indecent assault, four counts of sexual activity with a child and one count of cause/incite a child to engage in sexual activity.
Police officers continue to work with specialist agencies to offer all those affected by this case ongoing support.
GMP has not, so far, explained why the press or public were not notified after the suspect was charged.
Readers are reminded that the presumption of innocence must apply in order to ensure a fair trial. Comments are closed to avoid any prejudice arising.
