Based on information drawn from the Thirlwall Inquiry website, the timeline for the publication of the final report has been updated several times since the conclusion of oral evidence:
  • March 17th–19th, 2025: Closing submissions hearings take place, marking the end of the oral evidence phase.
  • Initial Plan (Publication prior to/during March 2025): Later, Lady Justice Thirlwall indicates an intention to publish the report in Autumn/November 2025.
  • May 22nd, 2025 Update: The inquiry announces a delay. The report is now scheduled for completion by the end of November 2025, with publication pushed back to early 2026. Warning letters for those criticised are planned for distribution in September 2025.
  • November 7th, 2025 Update: The inquiry announces the report is scheduled for publication after Easter 2026.
  • February 27th, 2026 Update: The Inquiry reports that drafting is “very well advanced” and it is preparing to provide the final draft to publishers for copyediting, typesetting, and proofreading. Further update due after Easter.
In response to a Neil Wilby Media enquiry dated 8th April, 2026 (Easter Monday fell on 6th April), an Inquiry spokesperson said that a further update on report publication date will be provided at the end of April, 2026.
