A constable serving with West Yorkshire Police who allegedly posed as a detective when she was off duty, and told a woman that her child could be taken away by social services, will face a Misconduct Hearing at Force HQ in Wakefield tomorrow (5th July, 2023).

The incident took place in June 2021, when, according to a force statement, the officer turned up in uniform at a house in Wakefield and made “false and inappropriate statements” after a woman had been involved in a dispute with her neighbour.

It is alleged that former Police Constable Wioleta Wesolowska has breached the Standards of Professional Behaviour for police officers, specifically the standards of Authority, Respect and Courtesy, Orders and Instructions, Confidentiality and Discreditable Conduct.

– In June 2021, she was posted to Wakefield District NPT East, Team 2, with responsibility for policing in and around Knottingley.

– At no time was she instructed or authorised to deal with a neighbour dispute between two members of the public who lived on Hastings Avenue in Wakefield.

-On 23rd June 2021, when off duty, former PC Wesolowska attended at the home address of one of the members of the public, in police uniform, and made false and/or inappropriate statements to the effect that:-

She had been sent to arrest her but had decided not to;

The member of the public’s daughter was supposed to be taken away by Social Services;

The member of the public was now on police bail;

She was a Detective.

– On 5th June, 2nd August and 20th September 2021, former PC Wesolowska accessed police computer systems to make enquiries about both members of the public which were not for legitimate policing purposes.
