A former West Yorkshire Police officer, Andrew Forrest, is facing a gross misconduct hearing on 17th August, 2023 over an allegation that he used the word ‘immigrant’ to describe a colleague last year.

According to a force statement, the police constable attended student officer training at their Carr Gate Training Complex, on the outskirts of Wakefield, on 25th October, 2022.

It is alleged that, at the end of the training day and whilst in the changing rooms, he told fellow officers that he had ‘nicknames’ for them. PC Forrest then proceeded to share them with colleagues and referred to ‘PC B’ as an ‘immigrant’.

WYP conclude from that: “In behaving in such a way, it is alleged that he has acted in breach of the following Standards of Professional Behaviour.”

The same force, now universally known as one of the most ‘woke’ amongst the wider police service, has faced a barrage of press, broadcast and social media criticism over the past week following the forcible arrest of a 16yo girl at her home, by seven WYP officers, after the autistic, handicapped child had commented that one of the officers who attended the scene ‘looked like her nana, who is a lesbian’. The girl was arrested, detained and bailed.

Following the public outcry, and in the wake of a conduct complaint and threat of legal action by the girl’s family, the force quickly announced it was taking no further action.
