In a post on the social media platform ‘X’ (formerly Twitter) on 6th November, 2023, Charlotte Green (pictured above left) has announced she is leaving her role reporting on Oldham Council, amongst other local authorities in the Region.
“Some news… this is my last week as a Local Democracy Reporter at the Manchester Evening News. It’s been a privilege to be part of the LDR scheme & I’ve loved my five+ years covering councils, but thrilled to announce I’m joining Full Fact as a journalist fighting misinformation”.
Charlotte’s live reporting from Oldham’s Council meetings and election counts, during a period of considerable political and social turbulence, is generally acknowledged to have been outstanding.
She leaves a large gap to fill.
