A former West Yorkshire Police detective, Claudine Binns, 49, has been charged with a serious sexual offence.
She is due to appear at Bradford Magistrates’ Court on 8th January, 2023 where she will face a charge of sexual assault by penetration.
The charge relates to an alleged offence while off-duty.
At the time of her arrest in May 2022, Ms Binns was deployed as a detective inspector within WYP’s Bradford District and was suspended from duty, according to a force statement.
No explanation is given by the force concerning the delay between arrest and charge.
It is understood that Ms Binns is from a policing family, her father being a retired divisional commander at the rank of chief superintendent.
She has since retired from West Yorkshire Police.
