Following a Neil Wilby Media press request, West Yorkshire Police has issued this statement:

“Police were called to Stratton View, Bradford, at 2:25am yesterday (Thursday, 25th April) to a report of an ongoing incident involving individuals in vehicles.

“Officers attended at the scene and found two unoccupied vehicles, a Honda and a Shogun, with collision damage.

“Following further enquiries, damage was also found to the door of a property on Farway which was consistent with a firearms discharge. It was confirmed that those in the address were unharmed, and they are being appropriately safeguarded.

“This investigation is in its early stages and extensive enquiries are ongoing by specialist investigators to understand the circumstances of what has taken place.

“If anyone witnessed any part of this incident or has any information about those involved, they are asked to contact the Homicide and Major Enquiry Team via Live Chat online or by calling 101, quoting 13240219911.”

The Neil Wilby Media press request was made after concerned residents on the permanently troubled Holme Wood estate in Bradford made contact over fears of repeated violence. The worst of it recently involving two warring families which left a member of one family in hospital with very serious injuries after being severely beaten by a member of the other family.

Farway was the scene of firearms discharges in October, 2013 that ultimately led to the conviction of four men over the murder of Barry Selby, in nearby East Bowling, at Bradford Crown Court the following year. One local says it was the same property that was shot at yesterday.

Bizarrely, a Shogun vehicle was also allegedly involved in the 2013 attack.

The appeal of one of those four men, Lee Calvert, is due to be heard in the near future, following a referral by the Criminal Case Review Commission to the Court of Appeal (read more here).
