An accelerated misconduct hearing will be held by North Yorkshire Police on 7th June, 2024 in respect of PC 702 Joe Daniel, who is alleged to have breached the Standard of Professional Behaviour in relation to Discreditable Conduct.

The hearing, which will take place at NYP HQ in Northallerton and open at 10h00, will be chaired by Chief Constable Tim Forber.

It is alleged that on, or about, 28th March 2024, in Leeds and Scarborough, PC Daniel pursued a course of conduct which amounted to the stalking of Miss A which he knew or ought to have known amounted to the harassment of her in that he made repeated unwanted contact with Miss A and attended the vicinity of her home address, contrary to section 2A(1) of the Protection from Harassment Act, 1997.

On 5th April, 2024, at York Magistrates Court, you pleaded guilty and were subsequently convicted of stalking without fear of violence and further remanded on conditional bail for sentencing.

The above conduct breached the standards of Professional Behaviour relating to Discreditable Conduct and amounts to Gross Misconduct.

The force says that parts of the hearing may be held in private to protect sensitive and confidential information.  Reporting restrictions may also be made at the discretion of the Chair.

No details have been given as to PC Daniel’s present duty status or the unit or district in which he was deployed. In mid-2022, he was known to be an officer based in Scarborough Police Station (pictured above) leading the police hunt for a ‘flasher’.

He joined NYP in January, 2022, after serving for just over 5 years in The Army. He had previously been employed as a swimming coach by Kirklees Council.
