The Leader of troubled Oldham Metropolitan Borough Council, Cllr Arooj Shah, is set to attempt to break her own world record set during the last municipal year.
Her total of 353 photographs or video clips, promoting herself, is believed to be the biggest ever for a local politician.
That excludes, of course, the tens of thousands of images that appeared on Labour Party local election material.
Put forward by many to be at least part of the reason why Labour fared so disastrously at the polls last month.
Undeterred, a political aide, who did not wish to be named, says:
“Arooj showcasing her vast wardrobe of designer clothes and dazzling array of designer footwear, whilst driving around in a fuel-guzzling, top of the range BMW 5 series car, is the perfect foil to those concerned about poverty, homelessness and unemployment in the Borough.
“She is also more than a little peeved that there has been some under-counting and the ‘real’ total of pics and clips of her is over 400.
“The contention is that she is a victim of ‘extremist’ political opponents who have deliberately suppressed the total.
“500 is the target figure this year: There is a lot of bad news in the system for Oldham residents to which suitable distraction must be provided”.
