West Yorkshire Police say that one of their officers has been sentenced after admitting multiple breaches of a Non-Molestation Order.

Detective Constable Jashwinder Jas Singh, aged 48, who is based in Bradford District, appeared at Sheffield Magistrates Court on Tuesday (2nd July, 2024) where he was given a four-month custodial sentence suspended for 20 months. The requirements of the suspended sentence order are that he must carry out up to 20 days of rehabilitation activity and 60 hours unpaid work.

The charges relate to breaches of a non-molestation order between February, 2023 and February, 2024. The breaches all occurred while DC Singh was off duty.

Detective Chief Superintendent Nicola Bryar, Head of West Yorkshire Police’s Professional Standards Directorate, said: “DC Singh was told the terms of this civil order, which included not communicating directly with the victim or entering the boundary of her home address.

“He has repeatedly engaged in behaviour in breach of this order, including committing offences while already under investigation by the Professional Standards Directorate. This pattern of behaviour is completely unacceptable and has understandably caused significant distress to the victim. I hope that this case demonstrates to victims that we will pursue police perpetrators and bring them to justice.

“DC Singh is currently suspended from duty and will now be subject to misconduct proceedings.”
