Lancashire Constabulary has confirmed that a 42-year-old male from London has been fined for an offence that can carry up to a £500 penalty
A star of the satirical puppet show, Spitting Image, has been punished after he published a film clip of himself whilst not wearing a seatbelt in a moving vehicle.
Dishy Rishi (or Chatty Rat to give him his Downing Street nickname) has been issued with a fixed penalty notice believed to be at the lower end of the scale, taking into account the ‘levelling-up’ process that the Rat was promoting. Which involves robbing local and county councils of very large sums of money and then those same authorities taking part in a lottery to try and win back a small fraction of what they have lost.
A spokesperson for Lancashire Constabulary said: “You will be aware that a video has been circulating on social media showing an individual failing to wear a seat belt while a passenger in a moving car in Lancashire. After looking into this matter, we have today (Friday, January 20th) issued a 42-year-old man from London with a conditional offer of fixed penalty.”
Downing Street had previously said in a statement that the Chatty Rat, also aged 42, had made a “brief error of judgment” by removing the safety device as he promoted his levelling up funding in an Instagram video when he visited cash-strapped outposts in Lancashire on Thursday.
“The Rat believes everyone should wear a seatbelt,” the spokesman said. “It was an error of judgment, he removed it for a short period of time to film a clip, which you’ve seen, but he accepts that was a mistake.”
Dishy was given the nickname, The Chatty Rat, by another Spitting Image star, Bonking Bozza, who suspected the rodent of consistently leaking information to the press.
A spokesperson for Spitting Image did not say: “We do not expect high standards, or in fact any standards at all, from our political performers. No lessons have been learned and, next time, Dishy Rishi expects to get away with moving vehicle offences by flying everywhere in private jets’.
