The mailbox of the Neil Wilby Media website is, although congested, rarely less than interesting.
This message arrived yesterday morning and immediately caught the eye. Not least because it resonated strongly with an article published by NWM on 17th December, 2022, headlined ‘Councillors fast asleep mystery’ (read in full here).
“hello. everybody know you don’t like raja miah but can i tell you something good about him? when my dad died my mum really struggled to sleep. she still does except on sundays when she watches rajas transmissions. they send her to sleep no problem. mum doesnt really understand politics but as a lifelong labour voter shes worried about whats happening in oldham. we used to pay £3 a month to him but when raja said he was finishing i increased it to £10 because of the savings on herbal remedies and such. her doctor isn’t keen on giving her sleeping pills and is delighted now when she says the way raja drones on makes her drowsy first and then she drops off every time. for me i get value from the £10 as well by reading the comments on rajas facebook and youtube pages they are hilarious’.
The commentator didn’t leave her, or his, name and such offerings would normally be treated with appropriate caution in those circumstances. But the email definitely has the ring of truth: Raja Miah, an unemployed, Tameside-based conspiracy theorist has to be one of the most tedious, repetitive social media broadcasters in the Greater Manchester region, if not the entire country (read more here). He recently ran a lengthy, coercive campaign that involved threatening to cease his infamous, frequently banned Sunday night transmissions unless his supporters paid him more money by way of subscriptions or donations (read more here).
He is pictured above forcing himself to stay awake during one of his transmissions.
As for his allegation of sleeping Oldham councillors, he never repeated that after he was called out, and asked for evidence, on this website.
