Following publication of a Neil Wilby Media article on 10th November, 2023, which reported claims of a ‘murder plot’ against a prospective Member of Parliament (read in full here), further details have emerged:
Raja Miah, a notorious, unemployed, Mossley-based conspiracy theorist, who says he will stand at the next general election in the Oldham West and Royton constituency, now says his ‘powerful’ political opponents and their criminal associates, protected by the Region’s police force, plan to kidnap and stone him to death under Sharia law.
The plotters, Bradford-born Miah claims, are a ‘ criminal Cartel’ attached to a Bangladeshi community centre in the Coldhurst area of Oldham, closely connected to the three sitting Labour councillors in that ward (Cllrs Abdul Jabbar, Abdul Malik and Ruji Surjan). There is no evidence that such Cartels exist, criminal or otherwise, even though they form the central theme of Raja’s election leaflet campaigning. Nor is there any evidence linking the three councillors to the threats against him.
This is what he told his Twitter (X) followers:
“I am still waiting to hear back from PC [name redacted] after I questioned if Greater Manchester Police in Oldham had interviewed a man who has been openly encouraging my murder. Initially, she claimed there was insufficient evidence despite me providing her with screenshots with clear evidence.
“[The officer] has failed to answer a simple question. I know why she is trying to close down an investigation and refusing to interview someone inciting murder. I suspect most following this horror show involving the Labour Party run Oldham Council also do too.
“Emboldened by police support, this individual has escalated his actions. This evening whilst I was sat watching my daughter hug her dying grandmother, trusted sources contacted me alarmed that there are discussions taking place to have me kidnapped and stoned to death.
“This follows an edited video circulated by this individual via community WhatsApp groups attempting to portray me, a Muslim, as a Zionist and supporter of the atrocities being committed in the Middle East. With the strength of feeling, I’m not surprised by the death threats.
Raja Miah’s followers on his subscription-only Recusant Nine Telegram channel received a message on a similar theme, gratuitously accompanied by a graphic and disturbing video clip of a punishment death by stoning:
“Thank you to everyone that has contacted me regarding my safety. Unfortunately, GMP are neck deep in what has taken place and I do not expect them to arrest any of the gang that believe they can initiate some form of Sharia style street justice to me because I am a risk to their control of our town.
“Those that I have exposed are extremely powerful. As well as being politically connected with a network of criminals to call on, they clearly also have the police in their pocket.
“I am currently staying away from my home (in part for family reasons and in part for safety), so it may be that I am not back there on Sunday evening for the [regular Recusant Nine] transmission.
He concludes: “Being kidnapped and then stoned, by trying to portray me as an anti Muslim Zionist during the current political climate is in a completely different league to being called a Gay Christian Convert.”
The police officer’s name has been redacted from this article as there is no public interest in identifying her – and the risk of the young constable being further exposed to harassment from Miah’s supporters, who appositely self-style as The Rabble, is, one hopes, reduced.
For example, the long-serving and leading female Rabble member, Julie Heywood, has this to say about the present drama:
“GMP are an absolute disgraceful company!! They don’t want to help you Raja because you have exposed them for the dirty rats they are!!!! They obviously have criminals working for GMP!! What a mess when the police force REFUSE TO DO THEIR JOB”.
Not for the first time, the inclusion of Raja Miah’s young daughter in his inflammatory, divisive narrative, albeit much of it so far-fetched as to be utterly risible, is seriously concerning. Not least identifying her location, given that her grandmother’s address would be well known to those that are purported to be plotting her father’s murder.
On a previous occasion, he claimed that his daughter was present when he was the alleged victim of a car-jacking by a gang of armed, masked robbers, whom the pint-sized Raja fought off single-handedly without sustaining even a scratch. That turned out to be another in a long line of Miah hoaxes and was not investigated by the police, either (read full account here). The current kidnap and stoning yarn is of much the same time-wasting genre.
A close associate of Miah and fellow conspiracy theorist, Ormskirk-based Paul Ponting, has made similar claims about threats to kill. Asserting that a contract on his life, in the sum of £1,000 and, allegedly, supported by GMP, was agreed in a Manchester pub on behalf of two females against whom Ponting is litigating over data breach (read full story here). Unsurprisingly, that was another fantasy not taken seriously by the police – or anyone else outside their common support group.
Greater Manchester Police and the Oldham Bangladeshi Association (OBA) have been contacted for comment on the allegations made against them by Raja Miah.
A Conservative Party councillor in Raja Miah’s home Borough, Tameside, has come out in his support: Cllr Liam Billington posting this on social media:
“I have just read Raja’s statement. Whilst I don’t agree with 100% of it, I know he is an upstanding gent. He’s exposed the corruption in GMP and Labour over CSE. It’s upset a lot of people. They failed to frame him for a car bomb, now they want him dead”.
Conversely, an Oldham Borough councillor, who prefers not to be named, says:
“He {Raja Miah] is Walter Mitty on meth.”
UPDATE: Since this article was first published, on 11th November, 2023, Raja Miah has made no further reference to either the ‘murder plot’ or the plan to ‘kidnap and stone him to death’.
